HURRICANE KALATOZOV
Synopsis: By offering to USSR, in 1958, the Golden Palm of the Cannes Film Festival
with his masterpiece : “ Cranes are flying ”, Mikhaïl Kalatozov, director of
georgian origin, opened an incredible breach in the greyness of the soviet film
production and upset millions of spectators and tens of future filmakers.
His brillant director of photography, Sergueï Ouroussevski, remained in him
faithfull for other adventures in particular his Soy Cuba , epic movies-poem,
saved from the overnight by Martin Scorsese and Francis Coppola.
Filmed in Moscow,Tbilissi, Havana,Honfleur and Paris this film redraws
the complex route of Mikhaïl Kalatozov, very implied in the political, cultural
and diplomatic story of the ex-USSR.
His son, Giorgi-Tito, then his little son, an other Mikhaïl, pursued his researches in their own works, each with talent.
What was able to bring the dinasty of Kalatozichvili to the Russian, Georgian and world cinema.
Mikhaïl Kalatozichvili ( died in October 2009 ) comes back to the family epic and shows ressources and current wanderings
of the Russian cinema. In his listening and compared to the images saved by
three generations, reports loosens in particular those of Claudia CARDINALE,
Valérie POZNER, Françoise NAVAILH, Enrique PINEDA BARNET,
Miguel MENDOZA,Raoul RODRIGUEZ, Salvador WOOD, Kirill RAZLOGOV,
Sergueï KAPTEREV.
