JEAN LURCAT OR THE SUNNY DREAM

Synopsis:
This film is Jean Lurçat’s itinerary thanks to the filmed sequences in his villa Seurat in Paris and Saint Laurent Towers castle in Saint Céré but also in Angers and Aubusson Museums where The Apocalypse and Jean Lurçat’s greatest piece of work The song of the World are exposed.
Taken from archives (pictures and films extracts), such as François Tabard and Jean Cassou’s tokens, Jean Lurçat personal texts read by Daniel Gélin help us to understand how the artist found, thanks to the tapestry, his art of predilection after trying painting on easel and canvas.
This film confirms that it’s thanks to the artist Jean Lurçat that we owe a true rebirth of the tapestry work, an art to which he knew how to give a breath of fresh air.
